Description

The guidestone located at the south-east corner of Thorne Cross is a structure likely dating from the 18th century. It is made of Ham stone and measures approximately 400 mm by 300 mm, tapering slightly to a height of about one metre with a rounded top. The north face of the guidestone features inscriptions that read "Montacute Road" with a finger arrow pointing left, and "South End of Road" with another finger arrow pointing left towards "Ilchester Road." This guidestone is considered a rare survival of its type.
