Description

Brambley Cottage, formerly known as Dairy House Farmhouse, is a detached house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of ham stone ashlar and features a plain clay tiled roof with coped gables, along with brick end and central chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a total of four bays.

The exterior includes a plinth and a continuous string course above the ground floor openings. The windows are ovolo moulded mullions with large diamond leaded panes, featuring three lights above and four lights below, with separate labels above the upper windows. The lower bay has an ovolo mould cambered arched doorway with incised spandrils, set within a rectangular wave mould recess, leading to a 20th-century door. There are two stairlights, one of which is blocked, located in the south gable wall, and another on the north end of the east front. The north gable displays a bulge, possibly indicating a former oven, with an additional two-light mullioned window above.

The interior has not been seen but is reported to contain deep chamfered beams, two cambered arched fireplaces, a brick oven, and indications of the site of former stairs. The roof trusses are from the 19th century.
