Description

ST51NW BRYMPTON D'EVERCY CP THORNE LANE (North side) THORNE CROSS 3/48 The Houndstone - - II Boundary stone. Possibly C18. Ham stone pillar, about 350 mm wide at base, tapering to 270 mm, about 300 mm thick and 1,150 mm tall, with rounded top. OS bench mark cut into base of stone, which has now been absorbed by a tree growing alongside. Marking the current boundary between Bryapton CP and Yeovil Without CP, the stone is, according to local tradition, the former meeting place of the local hunt, hence its name, which is also given to the district to the south.
