Description
The Houndstone is a boundary stone, possibly from the 18th century, located on the north side of Thorne Lane in Brympton D'Evercy. It is made of Ham stone and measures approximately 350 mm wide at the base, tapering to 270 mm, with a thickness of about 300 mm and a height of 1,150 mm. The stone has a rounded top and features an OS bench mark cut into its base, which has been partially absorbed by a tree growing nearby. This stone marks the boundary between Brympton Civil Parish and Yeovil Without Civil Parish. According to local tradition, it was formerly a meeting place for the local hunt, which is reflected in its name, also used for the district to the south.
