ORTON, GREENHOLME, Low Whinhowe farmhouse and adjoining store

Farmhouse and adjoining store. Probably C17; later additions and alterations. Coursed slate rubble, with quoins, on plinth; house stuccoed. Graduated slate roof; original house has stair outshut to rear, outshut added to rear of C19 extension. 2 storeys. Original house 4 bays. Plank door in gabled porch with fixed window to left and 2 sashes to right; 3 sashes above. 2 end chimneys (right-hand one originally projecting). 2-bay C19 extension on right has C20 part-glazed door with casement window to right on each floor; corbelled end chimney. All windows, except ground floor right, have glazing bars. Store, probably C17, under same roof-line to left of house. Interior: Ground floor room to left is separated from passage by plank and muntin partition; room to right of passage has chamfered fire beam and original joists. Plank doors.
