Description

Narracott Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that is now used as a farm store, with 19th-century additions. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a roof that is partly slate and partly corrugated iron. The building has a cruciform plan with four gable ends and two storeys.

At the south end, there is a 17th-century hall with a gable end rubble stack to the left of a two-light casement window, which has two panes in each light. The hall also contains a three-light casement window with three panes in each light and a two-light window in a projecting stair turret at the angle. The east projection features a three-light window to the left of a projecting rubble stone porch topped with a slated lean-to roof. The east gable end is blind except for a two-light casement window, with three panes in each light, located in the splayed end of the outshut on the north side.

The north gable end has a similar two-light casement window above a square opening with a timber lintel and slate sill. The west gable end has two blocked openings with cambered arches. To the right, there is a two-storey outshut that features two-light openings on each floor, positioned to the right of the entrance porch, which has a cambered rubble arch and a heavily recessed plank door.

Inside, there is a stopped and chamfered hall beam and an ovolo moulded surround to the hall doorway that leads to a wooden winder staircase. A single heavy 17th-century truss remains over the hall, while the remaining roof timbers appear to be from the 19th century. The stopped and chamfered chamber doorframe is located at the head of the staircase, and the internal partition walls are intact, complete with plaster.
