Description
Staddon Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th to 17th century, with later alterations. It has been extended by one bay beyond the right stack and was refenestrated in the mid-20th century. The exterior is roughcast over cob with a slate roof that is hipped to the right, and there is a rendered stack on the left gable end. The layout has been altered internally, but it possibly originally consisted of three cells with a full-height shallow central projecting bay that forms a porch. The building is two storeys high and features a layout of 1:1:2 bays. The wall to the left of the porch is set back from the wall to the right. The windows include two and three-light casements, with two windows on the ground floor to the left of the plank door in the porch, and one window to the right, which has small windows flanking the entrance in the additional end bay. An uneven line above the door to the right suggests there may have been an earlier structure in the form of a single-storey lean-to addition with a slate roof. The interior has been altered, but it retains some chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, and the stair is set against the rear wall in the central rook, with a collar and principal roof.
