Description
Rock Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 20th century. The building is rendered over cob and features a thatched roof that is hipped to the right. There is a rendered stack to the left of the entrance and at the left gable end. The farmhouse has a three-cell and cross-passage plan, originally accessed from the northeast front but now entered from the southwest. It stands two storeys high with three bays, featuring 20th-century metal window frames, including two on the first floor and one large window to the left of an early 20th-century gabled porch supported by brackets, which has a plank door. There is a catslide roof over an outshut to the left, with a small two-light window adjacent. The northeast front includes one two-light dormer with a hipped slate roof. Attached to the building is a two-storey, two-bay structure made of random rubble, which has a plank door and a 20th-century window to the right. Inside, the eastern end has been altered with an inserted stair, while the central room features a nine-panel compartment ceiling with hollow chamfers and chamfered beams in the kitchen.
