Description
Richards Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th to 17th century. It is rendered over cob and features a thatched roof that is gabled to the right and half hipped to the left. The cottage has rendered stacks that mark the central two bays, with a pantiled bread oven projection located below the left stack. The building is one and a half storeys in the center, with single storey wings. Due to the sloping ground, the left wing is also one and a half storeys, as it is lit on the return elevation below the half hipped roof. The façade consists of 1:2:2 bays, with two 2-light casements in dormers at the center, two 2-light windows below flanking a central plank door, and a plank door to the right with a single light and another 2-light window beyond. The interior has not been viewed but is said to contain a timber framed partition and chamfered beams with enriched stops.
