Description

Duddings is a farmhouse, likely built in the 17th century and enlarged in the early 19th century. The building is rendered over rubble and features a hipped thatch roof, a moulded wall plate, and roughcast stacks that rise from the eaves on the right side, at the original gable end on the left, and a large stepped lateral stack to the right of the entrance. It has an L-plan layout with three cells and a cross passage, which has been enlarged on the left with an addition that has a hipped roof. The right gable end may have been rebuilt, and there is a one-bay wing at the rear.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with a 1:2:1 bay arrangement. All the windows are early 19th-century leaded iron casements, with four and two lights, many of which have quadrant stays. The wall to the left of the stack is set back slightly, and the entrance is located in the second bay from the right, next to the lateral stack. It features a slate-roofed gabled porch with 19th-century ribbed double doors.

The return on the one and a half bay side has early 19th-century four-light casements on each floor, while the right side has a similar three-light casement on the first floor and a 20th-century door with sidelights below. There is also a two-light casement window on the right in the wing. A 20th-century slate sundial is mounted on the stack. The interior has not been seen, but the building retains an unusually complete set of early 19th-century casements.
