Description
Bonniton is a former Bonding Toll House built in 1708 and rebuilt in the mid-19th century in the style of the Luttrell Estate. The building is constructed of random rubble and features double Roman tiles. It has one and a half storeys, with two irregular gable dormers that have plain barge boards. On the first floor, there are two windows: one with two lights and another with three lights, both featuring leaded casements. The ground floor has an earlier four-light oak moulded frame window on the left side and a three-light casement window on the right. There are pent roofs over the windows, and a similar pentice porch is located above the off-centre doorway, which is supported by carved brackets. The doorway features an earlier studded door with a mid-19th century surround. A tablet set into the wall at the first floor states, "This is Bonding toll house 1708."
