Description

The Godden mausoleum, located in the churchyard about 12 meters north of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, was built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from granite rusticated ashlar and features a granite roof. The walls have a pronounced batter and rest on a plinth, showcasing a Neo-Greek style. The west entrance includes a four-panelled door with a cast iron ventilation grill in the top panel, flanked by fluted pilasters. Above the door, there is a cornice with an inscription dedicated to the Godden family on the frieze, topped by a cornice and a shallow pediment that features a Celtic cross in the tympanum. The other walls display late 19th-century inscription panels made from coursed granite, while the east elevation has a plain pediment with ventilation holes.
