Description

The Mountjoy monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 4 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Sampford Spiney. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of slate. The headstone features a double segmental top with scrolled lettering, commemorating Hugh Mountjoy, who died in 1783.
