Description

This is a headstone located in the churchyard about 3 meters southeast of the south aisle of the Church of St Mary in Sampford Spiney. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of slate. The headstone has a segmental shape at the top with stepped shoulders and features a winged cherub, a skull and crossed bones, and stylised flowers on the sides. The border has a wavy-edged carving, and it includes a laudatory inscription dedicated to Anne Light, dated 1795.
