Description
No 7 and Ebenezer Gospel Chapel is a mid-19th century building that originally served as a house, school, assembly room, and chapel. Constructed from granite stone rubble with granite ashlar dressings, the front is plastered, and it features a granite stack with a granite ashlar chimney shaft and a slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the chapel positioned end onto the street on the left side of the house, which runs along the street. The house was converted from the chapel school and assembly room and includes a secondary rear service outshot. It stands two storeys high.
The exterior features a stucco front that is lightly incised to resemble ashlar. The chapel is flanked by plain pilasters and has a symmetrical two-window front surrounding a central doorway, which contains a plank door and a fanlight with glazing bars and margin panes, topped with a stucco keystone. The flanking windows and a single central first-floor window are round-headed, with glazing bar patterns similar to the fanlight and keystones above. The house has a two-window front, with horned four-pane sashes on the ground floor and horned sixteen-pane sashes on the first floor, along with a plank door at the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
