Description
Nos 16 and 18 Lower Street are a pair of houses, likely built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from plastered granite stone rubble and feature granite stacks with plastered brick chimney shafts, topped with a slate roof. The houses are designed to face southeast along the street. No 16 is a cottage with a single room layout and an end stack on the left side, while No 18 has a two-room layout with a right end stack. A carriageway separates the two houses, with the bedroom above belonging to No 18.
The exterior has a regular but not symmetrical five-window front, showcasing 12-pane sash windows. No 16 features a six-panel door with an overlight and a plain doorcase, while No 18 has a similar door that has been replaced. There are large double doors leading to the carriageway, and the roof runs parallel to the street. The interiors have not been inspected.
