Description
Cobwebs is a cottage that dates from the 17th or 18th century and was altered and modernised around 1980. It is constructed from plastered granite stone rubble and features a disused granite stack, with a thatched roof and a slate roof on the rear extension. The cottage has a three-room plan and faces southeast, set back from The Square. The right room has an end stack, and there is a two-storey service extension at the rear. The entrance is now located at the left end behind a porch. The original layout has been significantly altered, and without an internal inspection, it is difficult to determine the original arrangement. It is possible that the right two rooms were the original cottage or that it was once two separate cottages.
The exterior has an irregular three-window front with 19th and 20th-century replacement casements that include glazing bars. The central ground floor window is believed to block a former doorway. At the left end, there is a porch featuring a Gothic-style door with an arched head, added around 1980. The porch roof is a monopitch that continues from the main roof, which is gable-ended on the right and half-hipped on the left. The rear extension has a gable-ended roof. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey.
