Description
Jacksons Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 2 meters south of the south-west corner of the porch of the Church of St Michael and All Angels. It dates from the 17th century and was restored in the late 19th century. The tomb is made of ashlar stone and features a flat lid with a cyma edge. The sides are adorned with strapwork pilasters at the ends and center, and there is a moulded surround to a semi-circular headed panel, with plain dummy impost blocks and a keystone, as well as fielded spandrels. The ends have a single narrow panel framed by pilasters, consistent with the sides. The monument rests on a single base stone with a chamfered top. The lettering, likely from the late 19th century, records dates from 1597 to 1693, associated with the Jackson family.
