Description

The Village Hall, built around 1911, is constructed from rock-faced, coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. The building features three bays, with the entrance located in a wing that forms an 'L' shape. On the side facing Church Lane, there is a gable on the right with a five-light mullion and transom window, complete with a hoodmould. Above this window, there is an oval window with dummy keys all around and infilled louvres. Slightly set back on the left, a boarded door is accessed by four concrete steps, flanked by simple timber rails. The door has a Tudor arch, a deep lintel, and a hoodmould. There is also a two-light mullioned window with semi-circular heads to the lights, recessed spandrels, and a hoodmould, set in a gabled stone dormer. A chimney is located on the ridge at the back of the hall. On the right side, facing High Street, there are three three-light mullioned windows similar to those in the dormer, featuring a hollow chamfer. Below the main gable window, there is a dedication stone in memory of the Reverend Morris Burland, who was the Rector of Stanton from 1877 to 1911, and his wife.
