Description

Ireley Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the third quarter of the 19th century for the Toddington Estate, though it may include some earlier work. The building features coursed, squared stone with an artificial stone slate roof. It has a square layout with three bays on each side and slightly projecting gables on the left of each side. The farmhouse is two and a half storeys tall, with a single-storey rear wing.

On the entrance side, there are projecting quoins at all corners and a plinth. To the left, there is a slightly projecting wing with a sash window and a hoodmould above it. To the right of this wing, there is a six-panel door with flush panels and a rectangular light above, sheltered by a gabled trellis porch. Next to the door, there is another sash window with a hoodmould. Above the entrance, three six-pane sash windows with hoodmoulds are arranged. In the gable, there is a two-light casement window with a hoodmould, and the gable features stepped projecting verge stones, a parapet gable, and a roll apex. The right end of the farmhouse has a similar gable. There are also two ashlar chimneys set back from the main facade. The farmhouse was lived in by Thomas Smith from 1865 to 1872.
