Description

STANWAY A46 SP 03 SW (east side) 3/96 Ireley Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Third quarter C19 for Toddington Estate: may contain a little earlier work. Coursed, squared stone, artificial stone slate roof. Square, 3 bays each side, with slightly projecting gable on left of each side: 2 1/2 storeys; single storey rear wing. Entrance side: projecting quoins to all corners; plinth; on left slightly projecting wing: sash window, hoodmould. Six-panel door to right, flush panels, rectangular light over, under gabled trellis porch: sash window with hoodmould. Above, three 6-pane sashes with hoodmoulds. Two-light casement with hoodmould in gable; stepped projecting verge stones, parapet gable, roll apex: similar gable right end. Two ashlar chimneys set back. Farmhouse lived in by Thomas Smith, 1865-'72. (C. Miller, The Account Books of Thomas Smith....., 1985)
