Description

Chapel Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with significant extensions and modifications from the 19th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed limestone and features a stone slate roof with coped gables. The building has a stone stack with moulded capping on the right side and eaves stacks on the return wall to the left. It is designed in an L-plan, with the gable facing the street on the left and the entrance located immediately to the right of this gable, likely leading to a throughway.

The farmhouse is two storeys tall with an attic and has one window in the gable and two windows to the right of the door. The gable features a 2-light chamfered mullion casement, while there are two gabled dormers with leaded casements above three sash windows with glazing bars, all set in reveals with plat-band surrounds and square cills. On the ground floor, there is a 2-light sash window with a square stone mullion and plat-band surround, as well as a 3-light window of the same style. A 20th-century glazed door is also present in a plat-band surround.

The return gable on the right is made of ashlar and has one 1-light window in the gable, two 2-light windows on the first floor, and one 2-light window at the bottom left, all featuring chamfered mullions and stopped drips. The return wing on the left has two Gothick dormers above Gothick windows, including a hexagonal bay with pointed heads to the glazing bars. At the time of the survey, the building appeared to be in a dilapidated condition. The interior was not viewed. The name "Chapel Farmhouse" comes from the earlier existence of a chapel on this site.
