Description
Charingworth Court is a large detached house built around 1820, featuring a rear wing that dates back to the 16th or 17th century, along with 19th and 20th-century alterations and additions. The exterior is made of limestone ashlar over a plinth, with a plain first-floor string and roofs that are either stone slate or plain tile behind a parapet. The main section stands three stories high and has four-windowed sashes with glazing bars. There is a full-height bow window with tripartite sashes on the garden front, and a 19th-century projecting pediment porch on the east front. The interior has been largely altered in the 19th century. The rear wing, which has a date of 1659 on a chimney, is likely older. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a modern tile roof and is two stories tall, featuring stone mullion windows below and wooden casements above, with some 19th-century and modern replacements. There are also two tall stone stacks with moulded caps that have been rebuilt. Inside the rear wing, you can find heavy chamfered beams, a fireplace, and two doors from the period.
