Description

Lower Hill Cottage is a detached house dating from the 18th century with 20th-century additions, situated on the east side of School Lane in Forthampton. The house is built with square-panelled timber framing and painted brick infill, and has a red tile roof with bands of fishscale tiling on the original core. A brick stack is also present. The building has a T-shaped plan, with the original 18th-century section positioned to the left and a timber-framed extension at right angles to the right. A 20th-century lean-to extension at the rear of the main body is not considered to be of special interest. The 18th-century portion of the house is one storey with an attic, and is lit by two 2-light dormers. The windows are predominantly 1, 2, and 3-light casements, all with leaded panes. Pitched planks protect the horizontal beams in the left gable end. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
