Description

The Folly is a detached house built between the mid 17th century and early 18th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It features square-panelled timber-framing with unpainted brick infill set on a blue lias plinth. The left gable end is rendered, and there is a brick extension with a red tile roof and brick stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan, with a wing that projects forward on the left side. A 19th-century extension is located on the right gable end, while a 20th-century lean-to extension on the right is not of special interest.

The main part of the house is two storeys high with an attic and has irregular fenestration, featuring 2-light casements that respect the framing. There is a small hatch above the plinth in the forward-facing gable end on the left. A 20th-century plank door is situated in the right-hand wall of the forward-facing gable. The 19th-century single-storey brick extension on the right gable end is lit by a single 2-light 20th-century metal casement, and there is a plank door to the right with a partly blocked segmental-head surround. The main body of the house has projecting gable-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected. This property is part of the Hasfield Estate.
