Description

Primrose Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the 15th century or earlier, with later 20th-century alterations. It is timber-framed with square panels, featuring unpainted brick infill between the timbers. The left gable end is brick-faced, and the roof is covered in red tiles. There are brick stacks. The cottage has a rectangular plan and one-and-a-half storeys. The east front incorporates four 20th-century dormers with horizontal glazing bars and hipped roofs, providing light to the upper level. Five 20th-century casement windows, also with horizontal glazing bars, are located on the ground floor, designed to respect the existing timber framing. A 19th-century plank door is situated off-centre to the right of the front, sheltered by a gabled 20th-century porch featuring a pierced quatrefoil in its gable. A similar porch is present at the rear. The interior contains three full cruck trusses towards the south end. The north gable end is hipped.
