Description
Tirley Hill Farm is a detached farmhouse that dates from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features square-panelled timber framing with unpainted brick infill and a red tile roof, forming a basic L-shaped plan. The main body of the farmhouse, which is timber-framed and from the 17th century, faces the road, while a 19th-century outbuilding projects forward to the left. An 18th-century extension is located at the opposite gable end, extending to the left. There is also a 19th-century lean-to on the northwest front that is not of special interest.
The timber-framed main body is two storeys high with an attic, and it is lit by 2 and 3-light casements featuring horizontal glazing bars. The lean-to on the right has a two-light 20th-century plate glass casement with horizontal glazing. The 18th-century extension is 2 and a half storeys tall, with gable ends that are lit by 20th-century two-light steel casements. There are bands between the ground and first floor at the gable ends. The garden front has irregular fenestration, all of which consists of 20th-century casements, and features a projecting stack on the right along with a central gabled porch. The large projecting gable-end stack from the 18th century has a shouldered recess towards the top, while a similar lateral stack with a projecting vertical band towards the top belongs to the 17th-century timber-framed main body on the left. The exterior is only accessible from the road, and the interior has not been inspected.
