Description
Tump Farm Barn is a detached barn that dates from the 15th century or earlier, with some 19th-century alterations. It features blue lias stone and square-panelled timber-framing, supported by large curving braces extending from the plinth to the eaves. The barn has unpainted brick infill and weatherboarding on the left-hand gable end, topped with a red tile roof. The main body of the barn is rectangular in shape. There is a 19th-century lean-to extension on the front left, which is not of special interest. The barn has a basement beneath it, with walls made of blue lias stone and timber-framing above. There are double plank doors located at the lower right of the basement, and an early plank door under the lean-to roof towards the right end of the opposite wall. An upper part of a window in the basement is visible in the right gable end. Inside, the barn features three full cruck trusses and a double purlin roof with wind-braces.
