Description
The Forge is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features square-panelled timber-framing with bracing and a combination of painted and unpainted brick infill on the ground floor of the roadside front, which has been refaced in brick. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there is a brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall. The roadside front is illuminated by 19th and 20th century one and two light casements with glazing bars, while the ground floor at the rear has 19th century metal casements with horizontal glazing bars. There is a central 19th century plank door at the rear, which is set within a shallow gabled porch. A projecting gable-end stack is also present. A 19th century outshut at the rear left is noted but is not considered of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
