SO 8532 FORTHAMPTON SCHOOL LANE (east side) 7/68 Sanctuary Cottage

GV II

Possible former hall with former solar block (now The Sanctuary q.v.) attached at the south-east corner; then 2 cottages, now in one occupation. Late C15-early C16, C18 and C19. Close-studded timber-framing with struts, painted brick infill, red tile roof, brick stack. Main body rectangular in plan with C18 timber-framed extension onto right gable-end. C19 brick extension rear left. Main body; 2 storeys and 3 bays, irregular fenestration comprising 1 and 2-light casements with glazing bars. Single bay C18 extension right. Large, partly detached, projecting left gable- end stack with broad offsets. Two C19 plank front doors with single pitched-planks over. Interior not accessible. (Forthampton Estate).
