Description
Brewer's Cottage and The Post Office, located in Forthampton Village, is a detached house that dates from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, with some 19th-century alterations. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill, and some rendered wattle and daub at the rear. It has brick stacks and a thatched roof. The main body of the house is rectangular, with a 19th-century brick extension on the right gable end.
The facade is two stories high and has four windows, which are lit by 1, 2, and 4-light 20th-century wood casements that project slightly from the facade, all featuring lead panes. There is a 20th-century glazed door located off-centre to the right. To the right, there is a single-storey former bakehouse, now functioning as the Post Office, which has a 20th-century two-light casement window next to a 19th-century plank door. The building has projecting gable-end stacks, with a projecting bread oven to the left of the left gable-end stack and a projecting lateral stack at the rear. Inside, the property features flat-chamfered beams with stepped stops.
