Description
Cuffries is a detached house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick, with a red tile roof and brick stacks. The house comprises a rectangular, 18th-century main body with a gable end facing the front, and a 19th-century extension set at right angles to the left. A lean-to addition to the front left is not considered to be of particular interest.
The 18th-century main body is two-and-a-half storeys high. The ground floor of the main body features a 16-pane sash window with shutters. To the left of this is an entrance door with six panels, above which is a decorative band. The first floor is lit by a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars within a segmental-headed surround; above this is a two-light casement with horizontal glazing bars, also within a segmental-headed surround. The ground floor of the 19th-century extension to the left contains a window similar to those within the main body, featuring two lights and horizontal glazing bars.
Two large, projecting brick stacks rise from the right-hand wall of the main body. Brick infill between the stacks incorporates a segmental-headed arch towards the bottom, presumably formerly over an opening which is now blocked. The interior has not been inspected.
