Description
The Grove is a detached house that dates from the 18th century and has some 20th-century elements. It is constructed of painted brick with a red tile roof and features brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan made up of two parallel gabled 18th-century blocks, with a 20th-century wing at a right angle on the left side and a 19th-century cottage attached at the rear left, which is not of special interest.
The main body of the house is two storeys high and has a cellar beneath the right end. The facade has five windows, mostly consisting of 16-pane sash windows, and there is a band between the ground and first floors. A central projecting gabled porch features a plank door, with a Sun Insurance plaque above it, and there is a plank door to the cellar located at the lower right. The ground floor of the gable ends is lit by canted bay windows. The right gable end has projecting twin gable-end stacks, as well as axial and gable-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
