Description

Twyning Park is a detached house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of painted brick with a slate roof and brick stacks. The house has a rectangular main body with 19th-century extensions to the rear; a flat-roofed garage at the rear is not of special interest. The symmetrical, three-windowed garden front faces the front and has two storeys and an attic. It features twelve-pane sash windows with horns and moulded architraves on the first floor, and eight-pane sashes on the ground floor. All garden-front windows have fluted keystones and valances. The front door is a 19th-century three-panel design, with the upper two panels glazed, and is set within a wide, flat-roofed 19th-century porch with fluted pilasters. A parapet extends slightly along the gable ends, incorporating gablets. A sash window is present on the left gable end. A blocked or blind Diocletian window is located in the attic. A large two-storey canted bay with stone-mullioned cross windows projects from the right gable end. Brick dentils are visible on the rear wall, and two lateral stacks rise from the rear wall. Interior inspection was limited, but the front left-hand room has panelling and an 18th-century fireplace with a lugged surround, moulded foliate decoration, and round-head recesses on either side.
