Description
Rose Cottage is a house, originally two semi-detached cottages, dating to the 17th century and built using a square-panelled timber frame, with bracing partly covered by brick. The roof is covered in concrete tiles and features brick stacks. The house has a rectangular plan with a small extension to the rear left, likely containing a bread oven. It is one-and-a-half storeys high. The ground floor has two two-light casement windows with glazing bars, set within segmental-headed surrounds. There are three two-light eaves dormers with horizontal glazing bars. A four-panel door is located towards the left gable end, sheltered by a gabled canopy. A similar door, within an open-sided gabled porch, sits off-centre to the right. A projecting stack is at the right gable end and an off-the-ridge stack is also present. A visible opening leads to the bread oven in the small rear left extension. The interior has not been inspected. This building possesses group value from its contribution to the historical character of the surrounding area.
