Description

Large detached house, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The core of the house is a square-panelled timber-framed structure with rendered infill, while 18th-century extensions are built of brick. The roof is tiled and features brick stacks. The original timber-framed range sits at the centre, with extensions at both gable ends. An extension to the east gable end was later extended north and south, creating a "T"-shaped plan for the house. Attached outbuildings to the north are connected to the main body via an open-fronted lean-to.

The main house is two storeys and has an attic. Windows throughout the 17th and 18th-century sections are casements with glazing bars. Casements within segmental-headed surrounds light the gable ends of the 18th-century extensions. Bands are positioned above the windows on each floor. The garden front features a projecting gable on the right, which was rebuilt in brick during the 20th century. A five-panelled door is sheltered by a lean-to canopy to the left of the projecting gable. A twelve-pane sash window with wide glazing bars is on the ground floor of the right-hand side return, with a blocked window above. A wooden cross-mullioned window with glazing bars is to the right. A large axial stack is on the timber-framed section, possibly dated and initialled 'I T 1773' on a rectangular limestone plaque. Ball finials are at the gable ends.

Inside the house, some turned balusters remain from a 17th- or early 18th-century staircase. The cellar includes a corbel-like feature with brattishing and three small holes on the horizontal surface, possibly for candles. There is also a segmental-headed passage that leads to the outside, likely serving as a bolt hole.
