Description
Brawn Farm is a detached farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with possible earlier origins, and has undergone changes in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with painted infill, alongside areas of painted and unpainted brick, topped with a red tile roof and brick stacks. The overall plan is complex and U-shaped, with the early core likely located at the center of the main body, where square-panelled timber-framing is visible at the first floor level. The facade of this early core was refaced in brick during the 19th century.
To the left of the courtyard at the rear, there is a two-storey, L-shaped wing that is timber-framed but has been refaced in brick during the 18th and 19th centuries, except for the left gable end. There is also a 1.5-storey 19th-century extension on the right side of the courtyard, a 2.5-storey 19th-century extension at the gable end of the main body, and a 1.5-storey 19th-century extension at the rear left of the main body. The building has irregular fenestration, mostly consisting of 1, 2, and 3-light 20th-century casements. The facade is illuminated by early 20th-century 2 and 3-light casements, as well as one 6-light casement, all featuring horizontal glazing bars. There are also two 18th-century composite stacks. The interior has not been inspected, and the exterior is only accessible from the road.
