Description

The stable block located approximately 20 meters northwest of Puckrup Farmhouse dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a red tile roof. The building consists of two rectangular blocks connected by steps leading up to the loft.

The right-hand block has four bays and four blind segmental-headed arches, two of which contain 20th-century stable doors framed by shallow 19th-century segmental-headed surrounds. The other two arches have double 20th-century plank doors with timber lintels. A small gablet is positioned centrally above. The rear wall mirrors the front, with four blind arches, one of which has a single ventilation slit that is likely original, while fixed casements have been inserted into the other three arches. A panelled door is located at the right gable end within a shallow segmental-headed surround, and above it is a pitching window within a segmental-headed surround. Steps lead up to a plank door to the loft at the left gable end, and there are owl or ventilation holes with rubbed brick surrounds. The eaves are adorned with brick dentils.

In front of this block is a former open-fronted store that features an arcade with seven segmental-headed arches. A 20th-century partition wall with stable doors has been inserted behind the arcade. The rear wall has seven blind arches, with fixed casements added later. A small gablet with an owl or ventilation hole is present, and the eaves also feature brick dentils. This stable block is an important part of the farmyard group.
