Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 15 meters west of Hayden Farmhouse in Boddington. The barn features brick-nogged or weatherboarded timber framing, with Sussex-bond brickwork on the gable and a shingle roof. It is a three-bay structure, built on a low stone plinth, with brick nogging above a three-panel high framing. There is an elbow brace extending from the corner post to the sill on the right side. The barn has double boarded doors in the center, with one panel of framing above, and lower double boarded doors to the left. The right gable has a half hip, and the gable has been rebuilt in brickwork below the tie-beam. Inside, there is a stone-paved threshing floor, braces from the wall posts to the tie-beam of the trusses on each side, and angled queen struts with a collar. A loft has been inserted on the left side. The roof was thatched until around 1970.
