Description
These semi-detached cottages, located by the drive to Butler's Court, date back to the 17th century and were altered in the mid-20th century. They feature a rendered exterior over timber framing and have a tiled roof. The cottages are two bays wide, one room deep, and rise to 2½ storeys, with a slight jetty on the first floor all around and at the gables.
On the road side, the right cottage has a three-light casement window, while the left has a two-light casement on the ground floor. The first floor of both cottages features two two-light casements with a small single-pane window between them. There are also two diamond-set brick flues in the center that extend from the ridge. The right return side has a single-light casement on the first floor and a two-light casement in the gable. The entrances to the cottages are located at the back. An old photograph shows the framing on the first floor with three square panels high and straight braces connecting the wall plate to the main posts, likely with two panels high on the ground floor, and it is reported that there was wattle and daub infill. The building consists of two bays with a narrow chimney bay in the center.
