Description
Hamfield is a detached house dated 1818, as indicated by the initials JC above the door. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a stone slate roof with gable stacks that have moulded cappings. The building has two storeys and three windows, which include 12-pane sash windows; however, the centre window on the first floor is a 2-light casement with margin bars. The central entrance has a 20th-century multi-pane glazed door that hides panelled doors and a fanlight, all within an Ionic portico that has responds and a flat entablature. The main front displays a cornice, blocking course, and coping to the parapet, along with elegant recesses and plasterwork on the left side. There is also a segmental vaulted cellar.
