Description

This is an unidentified chest tomb located about 3 meters from the second bay of the nave on the south side in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It dates from the late 17th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded plinth and heavy moulded capping. The ends are flattened lyre shapes adorned with an open book and crown motif. The sides are divided into a central inscription panel, with two panels on the north side, flanked by relief designs of flaming torches and acanthus on scrolls to the north. The top has a large eroded hollow, and the southeast corner is missing.
