Description

The pair of Andrews monuments, located about 1.5 meters southeast of the Mayo monuments in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, consists of two chest tombs. The southern tomb commemorates Thomas Andrews, who died in 1806, while the northern tomb is for Thomas Andrews Senior, who died in 1766. Both tombs are made of limestone and feature flat tops with moulded plinths and capping.

The southern tomb has additional moulding along the upper edge of its top, with scroll ends that include a cartouche on the east side and a swag on the west. The sides of this tomb display a double moulded rectangular panel with eared corners on the south side and a plain panel on the north side.

The northern tomb features a lozenge shape with rounded ends. Its ends are adorned with a fluted frieze and spiral astragal and torus, along with a snake and urn with an oval panel on the west side and a wrapped rectangular panel on the east side. The remaining four sides of this tomb have tall oval panels surrounded by carved foliage and inscriptions.
