Description

Wool Cottage is a small house located on the north side of Victoria Street, Painswick. It likely dates from the early 18th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is constructed of good coursed and squared limestone, with a stone slate roof and concrete tiles to the rear slope. It is two storeys and has an attic, featuring two windows overall. The ground floor has a 12-pane sash window, while the first floor has two replacement 12-pane sashes, and a 2-light gabled dormer. A part-glazed door is located on the left side, alongside a 20th-century door set within a projecting porch with a swept-down roof to the right. A central stone stack has been reconstructed. The left gable has been rebuilt in brick. The rear elevation features a section of good stone with two blocked 2-light flush mullion openings above a blocked doorway, and a 3-light window aligned with a continuous plain string course. The section to the right has been rendered and includes a 20th-century window at ground floor.
