Description

This is a pair of houses located in a row within St Mary's Street, Painswick. The front portion of the building dates to the 19th century, although there may be earlier fabric at the rear. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar and have a stone slate roof. They are two storeys high, with a cellar and attic, and have three windows facing the street. The upper floors feature 16-pane sash windows set within stone sills. The ground floor window on the right-hand side has been replaced with a multi-pane window of 20th-century origin. Three gabled dormers, each with a two-light, paneled window, light the attic space. A doorway leading to a through passage is located to the far left. This door is four-panelled, partly glazed, and has a small transom light, accessed by two stone steps, and is situated between the second and third bays. Two small cellar openings are also visible. A gable brick stack is present on the right-hand side of the building.
