Description
The Old Inn, formerly known as the George Inn, is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared limestone with a concrete tile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring 2-light recessed chamfer mullion casements with stopped hoods above two 3-light ovolo-mould casements that have stopped drips.
On the ground floor, there is a 2-light chamfer mullion window and a 3-light window of the same style, separated by a 20th-century door and hood, which interrupts what was originally a continuous moulded string. A large brick stack is located on the right side of the building. The left gable has a single recessed chamfer light above a blocked 2-light window, both with stopped hoods. To the left of the blocked opening is a 19th-century wooden casement. On the ground floor, there is a large blocked opening under a wooden lintel, now featuring a small 19th-century casement. The Old Inn is situated near The Gables and Thorne, both of which are located in Friday Street.
