Description
Berkeley Stables is a large stable block built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and faced with pink and grey sandstone on the west, north (facing Berkeley Castle), and east sides, featuring dark stone quoins on the north side. The roof is not visible due to a stepped embattled and coped parapet, which includes a stone cornice. The building is a single range with two storeys and consists of nine bays, with the centre bay slightly raised.
On the north side, there are nine pointed arch windows with keystones, stone mullions, transoms, and lattice windows. A moulded stone string course runs between the floors. The ground floor has eight similar windows and central double doors. The south side is made of brick and features wood mullion and transom windows on the top floor, some of which are latticed. The ground floor has eight pointed arch stable door bays flanking central double doors.
