Description

Avenue House is a large house located at the end of a terrace in Berkeley High Street. The front of the house is late 18th century ashlar, and it may have been built on the site of an earlier dwelling. It has a plinth of dressed stone and a concrete tile roof with a moulded stone parapet and blocking course to the front. A central ashlar ridge stack features a moulded cornice.

The main front range is accompanied by rear extensions on each side; the left side is brick, likely from the early 19th century, while the right side is rendered. These extensions form a U-shaped layout around the rear garden. The house is two stories high with four windows on the upper floor, each containing a 12-pane sash window set in plain reveals. There are three similar windows on the ground floor. A doorcase is located to the right of the centre of the ground floor, with access via two moulded stone steps. The doorcase includes attached stone Doric columns, an open pediment, a decorative radial fanlight, and a 6-panel door with fielded panels.
