Description
Grange Cottage is a former stable that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed and dressed rubble stone and features a prominent ashlar pedimented central bay. The roof is made of Cotswold stone slate and is hipped on both sides, with stone corner stacks. The building is a single range with two projecting wings at the rear, connected by a slate-roof lean-to.
The central bay includes a keyed oval oculus in the pediment with radial glazing, and two round-headed carriage arches with ashlar voussoirs that blend into the horizontal stone courses. These arches have large radial fanlights and double timber doors. On the right side, the original design is preserved, featuring a round-headed doorway with a semi-circular fanlight and a boarded door, along with a large semi-circular lunette on the far right. Above this, there are two fixed 10-pane lights arranged in a 5 over 5 pattern, all framed with smooth stone dressings. The left side retains its original openings but has additional 20th-century windows. An impost band runs at different levels on the sides and center of the building. The entrance door is located on the left-hand return and is from the 20th century.
