Description
Dam Head is a former farmhouse and stables, now a house, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of limewashed rubble with painted stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and consists of four bays, including a right-hand bay that was originally a 19th-century stable.
The entrance is located left of centre and has a plain surround with a door from around 1980. On the ground floor, there are flanking chamfered mullioned windows, with two lights to the left and three lights to the right. The right-hand side has a wooden chamfered mullioned window from around 1980, which is part of the former stable, along with a 1980 door for the entrance. On the upper floor, there are two windows that have been heightened, both featuring two-light chamfered mullions. The windows contain five panes and a mix of casements, sashes, and fixed lights.
The building has several chimney stacks: one on the left-hand gable end ridge, one left of centre on the ridge, and another on the right-hand ridge at the former gable. Inside, there are chamfered spine beams and a cantilevered stone staircase.
