Description
The barn, located approximately 50 meters east of Owlpen Manor, dates from the late 15th century and has been partly converted into an estate office. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has five bays and includes a south porch. The off-centre porch has a blocked doorway with a casement window inserted and a slit opening with a perch in the gable apex. The west side of the porch has been altered to include a glazed entrance and a hipped roof dormer. Garage doors have been added to the west end, which also features a hipped hood above and a timber cross window above that.
Inside, the barn has arched braced collars with projecting key-pieces supporting the raised cruck truss roof. There are two rows of purlins and much of the original timberwork remains intact. A recess for a cider mill is located in the centre of the floor, and a very large wooden cider press, equipped with a wooden screw, stands in one corner.
