Description

SP20SE CARTERTON AND BLACK BOURTON BAMPTON ROAD (North side) Black Bourton 5/147 Barn c.40m to NW of Manor 17/12/86 Farmhouse

GV II Barn. Mid-late C18. Coursed rubble limestone with roughly dressed quoins and stone slate roof. 8 bays. Bay 5 has large projecting porch with wooden lintel over cart doors, and pigeon nesting boxes with ledges in gable. Smaller doorway opposite in rear wall. Other bays have vent slits, and right bay has later sliding door. Interior has threshing floor of stone slabs, and inserted loft floor to right bays. Collar and tie beam roof trusses with double butt purlins.
